Griffith Business School launches the Asia-Pacific Centre for Sustainable Enterprise
Sustainable enterprise centre a new jewel in Griffith's crown

Griffith University will be one of the first universities in Australia to put its sustainability principles into action when the Griffith Business School launches the Asia-Pacific Centre for Sustainable Enterprise next week.
An international guru on sustainability and former United Nations (UN) advisor Professor Malcolm McIntosh will head up the Centre. He said the Centre will research sustainability in luxury goods, carbon trading, catastrophe bonds, faith-based (Islamic) investment, tourism and accounting, among other things.
"It’s time that all the talk about sustainable practices and corporate social responsibility is put into practice," Professor McIntosh said.
"New types of private investment such as investment in water infrastructure and catastrophe bonds urgently need further research," he said.
"It’s vital that the leaders of tomorrow training in today’s business schools are eager to push forward sustainable business initiatives – that can only be done if they’re trained in a school that has the research and drive to teach them in hands-on programs," he said.
The Centre will be established to address a growing range of sustainability related challenges across a wide range of disciplines including business, environment, science, law, economics and sociology.
David Vidal, Director, Centre for Corporate Citizenship & Sustainability, The Conference Board, New York, will join Professor McIntosh at the launch on May 26. The launch will be officiated by the Minister for Climate Change and Sustainability, Kate Jones MP.
Not only will the Centre involve the community, it will also offer a range of postgraduate and undergraduate courses, including
o Bachelor of Business (Sustainable Enterprise) – begins 2010
o Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Enterprise – begins semester 2, 2009
o MBA with Sustainable Enterprise specialisation – begins 2010
